I am Nelson Dino. You may also call me Neldy Jolo.
I am Suluk/Tausug by blood. I love multicultural Malaysia.
As a Muslim, I have devoted my life and soul towards the promotion of peace, harmony and solidarity among everyone within Sulu, Mindanao, Sabah, Malaysia, and neighbouring regions.
Many centuries ago, the State of Sulu stood as beacon of pride within the Sulu Zone, recognized as an economic and political center within a vast economic region which now forms part of Southeast Asia.
But today, we find Tausugs/Suluks, or people of the Sulu archipelago, in a prolonged state of diaspora. Decades of strife, wars, and injustices have brought this upon us.
But, like the wind and the sea, we are bonded together by a shared destiny.
This blog is my homage to our ancestors. It documents our rich history, food, culture, art, music, and literature. I hope through this blog, everyone will come to recognize our ancestors’ achievements and contributions to the historical, artistic, economic, and political development of the region.
In case you want to discuss further, please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also check out more details on art and culture of Suluks in Sabah through my book “Sulug in Sabah”.
I love you, peace. Let's sail together. Layag Sug!
